Welcome to Fairview Red Wing Medical Center
Fairview Red Wing Medical Center combines a clinic and hospital in one state-of -the-art facility. Opened in 2001, the medical center has a 50-bed inpatient hospital care unit that includes intensive care and The Birthplace. In addition, clinic services include primary family services, specialty medical and specialty surgical services, urgent and emergency care and rehabilitation services. The latest diagnostic tools from CT scan to MRI and full lab services, make this center a complete health care facility for patients throughout Goodhue and Pierce counties.

Preparing for the flu season
The news today is full of information about seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu virus. Here are some practical things that you can do to be ready for the flu season.

  1. Limited Seasonal flu vaccine is now available for some ages
    Fairview Red Wing Medical Center currently has seasonal flu vaccine injections available for children age 6 months to 35 months. Flumist is available for individuals age 2-49. No other vaccine is available at this time. Flu vaccine injections or distribution of Flumist can be scheduled during a nurse appointment. To schedule your appointment call 651-267-5000.
  2. Make a habit of flu prevention steps.
    Washing hands or using a hand sanitizer is one of the most important steps that you can take
    Cover your cough or sneeze.
    If you are ill, stay home.
    Get an H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccination when they are available.
  3. Stay informed
    The Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides the latest information on the flu season. Check frequently for the latest information.

  4. What to do if you are ill: If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay at home to avoid spreading the virus. Good information on flu symptoms and when you need to seek medical treatment is available from the CDC.
