Introduction
Children can have special rehabilitation needs. Conditions such as cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome, development delays or birth defects require special treatments and skilled and caring therapists. At Fairview Red Wing the pediatric rehabilitation team includes an occupational therapist, physical therapist and speech pathologist. Each team member assesses the child’s strengths and weaknesses and the team collaborates to identify barriers to progress and to develop a plan of care. Cross-training among the therapists allows the plan of care to be implemented regardless of the therapy type.
