Occupational Therapy

Introduction
Occupational therapists treat patients of all ages. They look at the whole person to help you lead a productive, independent and satisfying life. We offer a range of specialized services you won’t find anywhere else in this area.

Occupational Therapists (OT’s) focus on helping you return to your activities of daily living or other meaningful occupations or activities/tasks that might be impacted by injury, illness or surgery.  Activities of daily living might include dressing/bathing, home management skills or even leisure activities.

Occupational Therapists can perform home safety assessments in order to make recommendations for modifications or adaptive equipment to maximize the safety of you or a loved one in their own environment.  Our skilled & caring Occupational Therapists also perform cognitive assessments, create home exercise programs to increase strength/endurance with daily routines, utilize a driver simulator, teach skills for those with low vision, educate patients on modifying tasks and equipment for increased independence, & work with pediatric patients for a variety of reasons.  Patients are often referred to Occupational Therapy after a joint replacement or may even have OT for general deconditioning.

Our OTs also work with individuals with arm & hand impairments due to injury, surgery, stroke or other reason in order to return to functional use with that extremity.  This might include creating a custom splint, helping to manage a scar or wound, working on increasing strength and coordination.  Specialized programs such as Cardiac Rehabilitation, Industrial Rehabilitation/Work Conditioning Program and Lymphedema/Edema treatment are also provided by our OT department.
