Introduction
The Perioperative Surgery unit includes an operating room suite of five operating rooms, a Same Day admission and discharge area and post operative care unit, all including state-of-the-art equipment. The rooms are staffed by perioperative registered nurses and surgical technicians who provide both procedural and nursing care of the surgical patient of all ages through the pre, intra, and post operative phases of surgery.  Each surgical patient has an RN as the circulating nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate their surgical care. 

We have an annual case load of approximately thirty-two hundred procedures per year and work with a variety of specialty areas.  These services include anesthesia, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, urology, ENT, podiatry and pediatrics.  We provide an operating room team for emergency care and twenty-four hour coverage, seven days a week, year-round by the use of staff on call.  The department is staffed for scheduled procedures Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
